B.S. in Physics, B.S. in Chemistry

Do you feel like you made any concessions to come to a school that is reasonably priced?
The concession I made was going to a smaller school. For me, I wasn’t really looking to attend a smaller school, but in the end it actually became a point in favor of the school. Smaller class sizes meant more availability to the professors, a more individualized learning environment, and lots of undergraduate research opportunities with faculty. So, while the size was a way a concession, it became a positive for me.

How is faith incorporated in the classroom?
At Grove City College you never know when a topic may come up in class which ties into your faith. There has been several times in my Physics classes that the lecture diverges and the professor takes time to comment on the complexity of creation. Or discuss the order of the world around us and tie it back to God and our walk with Christ as students and future scientists.

How do the academics challenge students to think on a deeper level about the world and life in general?
For me, thinking on a deeper level about life and society has taken place through taking the Humanities core curriculum. Specifically, classes such as speculative mind and introductory psychology have challenged me to think deeper about society and my worldview.

What are some of the ways that professors ensure that students not only receive information but truly learn and understand how to apply that information?
One way professors at Grove City College make sure students truly learn and apply information is through office hours. Students with any questions on the material can drop in without an appointment to a professor during any of his/her office hours. Beyond this, I know of many classes which have free tutoring on certain nights once a week to help students through the material.

What is your favorite aspect of Grove City College?
The environment is open, friendly, safe, and genuinely caring. There have been several times where I’ve had a rough week and a professor will stop me and ask about my week and help me through it. Or a random note of encouragement will appear in my mailbox or on my door. People here are incredible, and that’s truly what makes Grove City College stand out.

How would you describe the relationship that the students have with each other on campus?
The relationships you form at Grove City College are huge to helping you get through college. Your relationships will help determine how your time here is. From studying, to relaxing, to just laughing with each other, my friends have been huge in helping make the experience at Grove City College even better. College is hard, and having a group of friends to support you is huge. Luckily there are lots of cool, funny, crazy, and incredible people to be connected with here.
