The Grove City College Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra’s new album showcases student musicians live in concert.
“Grove City College Orchestras 2025–2026 (Live)” is available for global streaming on major digital music services, including Spotify and Apple Music. The fifth recording from the orchestras is the 15th album released by the College’s Department of Music, Theatre & Art.
Professor and Department Chair Dr. Jeffrey M. Tedford ’00, who directs the orchestras, said the department’s collections have been a hit, with more than 500,000 streams on all platforms.
“I am thrilled that we can bring this music to our alumni and friends and provide a memento for our current students and alumni of their time in these ensembles,” he said. “This is very exciting for our students as they can look back proudly on the work they created and listen to their recordings wherever they are.”
Recorded between the spring of 2025 and spring 2026, it features live performances, including selections from the 2025 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association annual conference and Grove City College’s 150th Celebration earlier this year in Pittsburgh.
The live album highlights a broad range of orchestral repertoire. Symphony Orchestra selections include Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Op. 84, the fourth movement of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, Op. 107, “Reformation,” and Philip Lane’s three-movement Pantomime for string orchestra.
Chamber Orchestra selections include three movements from Shostakovich’s Sinfonia for Strings After String Quartet No. 8, as well as Gershwin’s “Strike Up the Band.”
“I am proud of each student’s hard work in making this and all of our previous recordings possible,” Tedford said. “The ensembles at Grove City College bring students from across campus together in our pursuit of excellence while using our gifts to glorify God and create a healthy and supportive community."
