Marasco, Apple named Senior Man and Woman of the Year


​The 2013 Grove City College Senior Man and Woman of the Year awards were presented to Brendan Marasco and Julie Apple on May 4, during the Parents’ Weekend Recognition Convocation on campus.

The awards for Senior Man of the Year and the Senior Woman of the Year are presented jointly by the leadership honoraries Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa as a service to Grove City College. The selections are made on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service. The candidates were voted upon by the students and faculty. It is one of the highest honors that the College can bestow. Former recipients of this prestigious honor have gone on to become leaders in faith, education, business, law and healthcare.

A business finance major, Marasco has served Grove City College as a residents assistant, a class president and Student Government Association member. Along with being a member of the Crimson and White Society, he assists on the Student Faculty Review Committee, Business Initiative for Leadership Development and Homecoming Committee. He has also served as a student assistant for a business professor and the captain of an intramural sports team.

Finalists for Man of the Year were: Andy Caffro, Levi Levato, Louis Phillips, Philip Tan and Adam Walker.

An accounting major, Apple competed on the women’s varsity soccer team for three years. She was a freshman resident assistant as well as a tour guide.  Apple has served on the Religious Activities Committee, the Parents’ Weekend Dinner Committee and the Student Faculty Review Committee. In the academic realm, she has been a student assistant for two accounting professors, an accounting tutor and a member of the Finance Society and Operation Top Management. She is also a member of three honoraries: Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board and Delta Mu Delta.

Finalists for Woman of the Year were: Amber Durkee, Ingrid McGuckin, Cady Merchant, Kate Nagatani and Angela Palumbo.
