How We Rank

Grove City College annually ranks among some of the best colleges and universities in both Pennsylvania and the United States. While we tend to measure success by things such as our 97 percent job and graduate school placement rate for members of the Class of 2015, we are also proud of our other national rankings.


Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges (2016)
Grove City College is highly ranked nationally, among private colleges and schools in the Northeast region. The financial magazine cited Grove City’s excellent return on investment for students.  Read more>>

Forbes’ Best Value Colleges (2016)
Grove City College is one of 300 American colleges and universities that’s worth the investment of time and tuition according to Forbes’ “Best Value Colleges 2016,” which identifies schools that “provide students with the most value for the dollar.” Grove City College is ranked in several categories. U.S. News & World Report (2017)
The College is ranked in the top tier of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges based on a number of factors, including graduation and retention rates, faculty quality, student selectivity, financial resources, assessments by other colleges and high school counselors and alumni giving. The College posted strong numbers in several categories, including a 92 percent freshmen retention rate, 85 percent graduation rate and number of freshmen in the top 10 percent of their high school class. U.S. News & World Report

Grove City College is number 13 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of “Liberal Arts Colleges Where Accepted Students Usually Enroll.” Grove City College’s rate of accepted students who enroll is 48.8 percent, well above the national average of 29.2 percent. This indicates that the College is a top choice for most applicants. Read more>>

Princeton Review (2017)
The College was included in Princeton Review's "The 381 Best Colleges," placing Grove City among the best of the best from more 3,000 four-year colleges and universities and in the top 12 percent of schools nationally. Overall, the College’s accessibility of professors, academics and campus quality of life were all in the top 25 percent. Read more>>

Princeton Review (2017)

Grove City College is one of 200 schools with a national reputation included in Princeton Review’s “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Best Value Colleges and What It Takes to Get In – 2017 Edition.” Princeton Review looked at 40 weighted data points – everything from academics, cost, financial aid, and student debt to statistics on graduation rates, alumni salaries and job satisfaction – and concluded Grove City College features stellar academics, affordable costs and strong career prospects for graduates. #4 “Top 50 Christian Colleges and Universities Exceeding Expectations 2017” – Highlighting “schools which have proven to go above and beyond when it comes to students’ academic achievements.” Schools on the list significantly surpassed their predicted graduation rates. Payscale College ROI Report (2016)
Grove City College made PayScale’s top ten list of Best Value national liberal arts colleges. The ranking, which recognizes the College’s record in positive graduate outcomes, is based on PayScale’s 2016 College ROI (return on investment) report, which looks at the monetary return on a college education based on the cost of attendance, earning potential of alumni or a combination of the two. According to PayScale: Grove City College’s ROI is $453,000 over 20 years; average early career salary is $48,800; average mid career salary is $96,600. Read more>>

Grove City College is second on College Raptor’s list of 2016 Smartest Choice schools, an exclusive ranking of 43 elite national colleges and universities where students are most likely to get accepted, stay enrolled and graduate in four years. Read more>>

Grove City College received the Christian College of Distinction recognition for the fourth year in a row. Colleges of Distinction stated that Grove City excels in the “Four Distinctions” of engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes. Read more>>

SmartAsset (2016)
Grove City College Ranks sixth among Pennsylvania institutions where students can get the best bang for their buck. Colleges are ranked according to five factors: tuition, scholarship and grant offerings, student living costs, retention rate and starting salary. Grove City College is ranked in the top 12 percent nationally on its “Best Colleges” for your tuition dollars nationally and number seven among Pennsylvania schools. Money looks at educational quality, affordability and alumni earnings. Read more>>

Best College Reviews (2016)
Grove City College’s Newman Club is number 28 on Best College Reviews’ list of the “50 Best College Newman Centers.” Newman Centers cater to the needs of Catholic students at colleges and universities across the country. “The Newman Club at Grove City College is dedicated to educating students of all faith traditions who are interested in the Catholic faith. The club offers fellowship and community for Catholics on campus, opportunity to attend Mass, book clubs, dinners, social events, and regular meetings,” according to Best College Reviews, an online independent college review journal. Best Choice Schools (2014)
Grove City College is the number one most affordable college with a high four-year graduation rate. The College’s 78 percent graduation rate and $14,880 a year tuition secured it the top spot on the 20-school list, ahead of some of the nation’s leading private and public schools. Read more>>

Great Value Colleges (2014)
Grove City College is ranked sixth out of 25 private schools on a list of Greatest Affordable Colleges in the Northeast by Great Value Colleges. The website cited the College’s high freshmen retention rate and that 96 percent of alumni are working or in graduate school within six months after graduation. Grove City College was ranked as one of the top 20 colleges in the country with the friendliest students according to Niche. The website, formerly known as, surveyed over 55,000 current students and recent alumni to find which schools have the friendliest students. Visit site>>

Consumers Digest Magazine (2014)
Consumers Digest Magazine ranked Grove City College the number one Top Value Rated private liberal arts college in the nation. Consumers Digest selected colleges based on a formula that blended academic excellence of students with the educational quality as assessed by four- and six-year graduation rates. Visit site>>

Young America's Foundation (2014)
