12/5/2013

Grove City College music students will provide cool music at the 10th annual Winter Jazz and Christmas Concert on Friday, Dec. 6. The concert, featuring the Jazz Ensemble and Grove City College Singers, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public, and free parking is available for all attendees.

The concert will feature a number of traditional Christmas tunes as well as a variety of big band, popular and jazz favorites. The Christmas music will include "O Holy Night," "Silver Bells," "Little Drummer Boy," "Charlie Brown Christmas," "Candy Cane Lane" and more. The audience will be treated to an array of Christmas motion lights in a stunning visual and aural experience.

In addition, an "Andrew Sisters Big Band Set" will be included featuring three Grove City College music majors: Sarah Boice, Hannah Hess and Holly Boyce. This set includes the popular charts "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Apple Blossom Time," "Mele Kalikimaka" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree."

The Grove City College Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Joseph J. Pisano ’94, director of bands and professor of music. The Grove City College Singers are directed by Stacy Paparone ’93, assistant professor of music.
