Flamenco dancing will be seen and heard on the Pew Fine Arts Center stage as Grove City College presents Flamenco Vivo/Carlota Santana at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. The show is part of the College’s 2012-13 Showcase Series.
Driven by the fiery cante jondo, Flamenco Vivo/Carlota Santana provides passion and drama in its inspiring program La Pasión Flamenca. This fierce and eclectic evening of Spanish dance and music features solos, duets and festive company dances. Whether the artists are conveying love or sorrow, happiness or anger, the emotions will transcend cultural boundaries.
La Pasión Flamenca is a journey back to the cultural crossroads of Andalusia, the southern region of Spain and the birthplace of flamenco. Vibrant influences from Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East will be seen and heard in one of the world’s most dynamic forms of expression. The troupe is under the artistic direction of Carlota Santana.
General admission tickets are available at a cost of $20. Tickets for students and employees are available at a discounted rate. To register or for more information, visit alumni.gcc.edu/flamencovivo or call (724) 458-2300.
