GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Department of Education, education honorary Kappa Delta Pi and the Hamilton Curriculum Library recently honored approximately 91 fourth- through eighth-grade creative writers at the Grove City College Awarding Awesome Authors awards ceremony on campus. Now in its 14th year, the semi-annual contest drew more than 800 entries from 12 school districts.
Those honored received a certificate of excellence, an award-winning selection of literature, a bookmark, a pencil and an anthology containing all winning stories. Six overall winners received a journal, hardback book and pen. Kappa Delta Pi also donates a hardback book to the school attended by each overall winner.
Entries were evaluated numerous times by Kappa Delta Pi members for ideas and content, style and creativity, organization and mechanics. The Awarding Awesome Authors contest is held twice a year, and honors kindergarten through third-grade writers in the spring as well.
