This year, approximately 215 organizations called on Grove City College. What keeps recruiters coming to an out-of-the-way campus in a lethargic economy? According to Jim Thrasher, Director of Career Services, "Recruiters appreciate the character and integrity of our students. And, you can’t underestimate the tenacity of our staff members who year after year do a great job of bringing recruiters to campus.”
What’s new on the career services front? According to Thrasher, “It’s being said that current graduates may change jobs eight to ten times and have four or five careers during their lifetime. Consequently, we’re telling young people to become the managers of their careers. In this dynamic market workers can’t afford to become myopic — an entrepreneurial approach is critical; professional horizons must constantly expand.”
Career Services scheduled approximately 1300 forty-five minute appointments with students this past year, each geared toward helping young people explore career options. According to Associate Director Mandy Sposato, “We have the wonderful privilege of working one-on-one with so many incredible students and helping them identify their calling in the marketplace. Guiding students in the career development process is a thrilling experience for all of us in this office!" With that kind of enthusiasm it’s easy to understand why Grove City College continues to be a hot destination for recruiters year after year.
