GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College’s radio station WSAJ, 91.1 FM, will host an eclectic evening of music from national, regional and local musicians at the annual “Wake Your Neighbors” benefit concert beginning 7 p.m. March 6 in the Auditorium of Crawford Hall on campus. For more than a decade, the concert has benefited local charitable causes; this year’s proceeds go to Grace Food Pantry and campus group Project Okello.
The Philadelphia, Pa.-based rock band Jealousy Curve headlines the main stage performances. The band has garnered a dedicated fan base through relentless touring. It released its first full-length album, “Life as An Addict,” in 2005. Jealousy Curve was named the winner of the 2005 Zippo Hot Tour, which led to opening gigs for The All-American Rejects, The Academy Is... and Rooney.
Another Philadelphia band, Soraia, and local favorites Recession and Amplifiers will also perform. On the acoustic stage, WSAJ will welcome a number of local acts, including Matt Texter and Jordan Nichols.
Tickets will be available in the Breen Student Union starting March 2. Advance tickets are $3, and $5 at the door. Grace Food Pantry is located in Grove City. Project Okello, or “Project War Child,” is a campus organization dedicated to supporting and building awareness of suffering children in northern Uganda.
WSAJ, one of the oldest non-commercial radio stations in the country, is managed by Darren Morton, radio director. Organizations interesting in sending newsworthy events to the station may do so at wsaj@gcc.edu.
