TRUSTEE AND FORMER U.S. STEEL BOARD MEMBER TO SPEAK |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dan Sandman, Esq., Grove City College Trustee and former member of the United States Steel Corporation Board of Directors, will present the J. Paul Sticht ’39 Lecture in Business and Ethics at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters on campus. Sandman’s presentation, “Who is Governing Corporate America?” is free and open to the public.
Sandman served in a variety of roles throughout his distinguished professional career. He has worked for Marathon Oil Company in a series of positions in the company’s marketing, antitrust and oil and gas law areas, as well as a general attorney for refining and marketing law and U.S. exploration and production law.
He was elected general counsel and secretary of Marathon and USX Corporation in Pittsburgh and worked in human resources, public affairs and for government and environmental affairs. Upon the split-off of U.S. Steel from USX Corporation, he was named vice chairman and chief legal and administrative officer and elected to the United States Steel Corporation Board of Directors. He retired from U.S. Steel in 2007.
Sandman has served on the board of directors for Roppe Rubber Corporation. He was a board member for The Phillips Companies, EMS Pipeline Service Company and chairman of the board for the Heinz History Center and Ohio State University College of Law National Council. Sandman was also named the co-chair of the Pennsylvania Corporate Counsel Roundtable by Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice the late Ralph Cappy. He and his wife, Bonnie, have two children.
