THREE MUSICIANS WIN ANNUAL CONCERTO COMPETITION |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Three students garnered the top spots at the recent Grove City College Concerto Competition. As part of the honor, each student will perform with the Grove City College Orchestra at its spring concert at 8 p.m. April 27 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on the Grove City College campus.
Freshman Sarah Parris of Chadbourn, N.C., performed Ludwig von Beethoven’s “Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15” on the piano.
Sophomore Elizabeth Miller of Grove City, Pa., performed “Concerto No. 1 in g minor, Op. 26” by Max Bruch on the violin.
Senior Debra Garden of Pittsburgh, Pa., performed “Concerto in d minor for cello” by Edouard Lalo.
The Concerto Competition is under the direction of Professor of Music and College Organist Dr. Richard Konzen, who also directs the orchestra. Winners were announced immediately following the competition. Judges critiqued competitors in five categories: rhythm, technique, intonation, musicianship and stage presence.
