GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College Professor of History and author Dr. Gary S. Smith will present “The Maligned Faith of Thomas Jefferson” Dec. 5 at the American Founders Luncheon Series at The Rivers Club in Pittsburgh. The event is hosted by the Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College and the Federalist Society of Pittsburgh.
The American Founders Luncheon Series brings to Pittsburgh respected scholars on America’s founding to present talks focused on the beliefs, actions and character of those leaders who pursued a “Great Experiment” in whether humans are capable of governing themselves.
Smith, a 1972 alumnus of Grove City and a professor at his alma mater since 1978, is the author of the newly released “Faith and the Presidency from George Washington to George W. Bush,” published by Oxford University Press. Smith will discuss Jefferson’s faith, which – though difficult to define – helped to shape this important American founder.
The cost of the luncheon is $17.76. Registration and networking is set for 11:15 to 11:55 a.m., and the program runs from noon to 12:50 p.m. The Rivers Club is located at One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Pittsburgh.
Smith’s book, “Faith and the Presidency from George Washington to George W. Bush,” will be on sale at a reduced price of $25. Copies may be reserved in advance by sending a check for the book and luncheon. Books will be delivered at the luncheon.
