GROVE CITY, Pa. – Three students were awarded $500 scholarships by their international education provider to help pay for their semester abroad this spring.
Cultural Experiences Abroad gave one scholarship to sophomore Julia Anderson of Grove City, Pa., daughter of Provost William P. Anderson, to study at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico.
Academic Programs International gave two scholarships to students studying in Spain, one to sophomore Trevor Earnshaw of West Chester, Pa., who will study at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, and another to junior Laura North of Lititz, Pa., who will study at the University of Granada.
In addition, three professors are currently teaching in France at Grove City College’s International Study Center in Nantes. Drs. Andrew Markley (business department), Gary Smith (history department chair) and Eric Bardy (engineering department) will teach classes to the 23 Grove City College students currently studying abroad through the program. College Trustee Stan Johnston ’60 also recently completed a series of lectures for the students.
This is the second semester that Grove City College students have received scholarships to study abroad. Next semester, more than 35 students will study internationally – seven times more than three years ago.
The International Study Center program began with seven students and currently has 23 enrolled this semester.
