GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College congratulates the winners of the eighth annual Business Plan Competition held April 30 on campus. The awards are presented for the best original non-profit and for-profit business plans.
Taking top honors in the non-profit category, worth $4,500, was Women Absolutely Prepared by freshman Philip Tan of Norfolk, Va. and freshman Alexander Cochran of Millersville, Md. Second place went to International Education Connection by senior Mark Pearson of New Castle, Pa. Pearson received $3,000 for the honor. Third place was a tie between Camp GROW by junior Jayna Grassel of Delmont, Pa., junior Laura Blank of Landisville, Pa., junior CJ Beatty of Columbus, Ohio and junior Julie Shenk of Lancaster, Pa. and Island Leather Works by junior Kevin Hoffman of Ocean Grove, N.J. and junior Brittany Hayward of Ocean Grove, N.J.. Camp GROW and Island Leather Works will split the $2,000 prize.
The Business Plan Competition non-profit awards were sponsored by Wesley Spectrum Services, S&T Bank, Grove City College and the Grove City College Entrepreneurship Program.
The for-profit category winner was a tie between LimeCuda by senior Blake Imeson of Murphy, N.C. and senior David Kuhta of Sloatsburg, N.Y.; and epiCycle Tours by senior Joel Shindeldecker of Antalya, Turkey, and junior Matthew McNicoll of Houston, Texas. The teams will split the first- and second-place rewards worth $7,500. Receiving third place, worth $2,000, was Flat Waves by junior Matthew Kennedy of Mars, Pa., and junior William Burgess of Portsmouth, R.I.
The Business Plan Competition for-profit awards were sponsored by Pine Instrument Company.
