STAGE BAND, JAZZ ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM WINTER CONCERT |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Stage Band and Jazz Ensemble will take the stage for the sixth annual winter jazz concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 4 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
The concert will showcase traditional Christmas tunes and a variety of Big Band and jazz favorites. The songs include “Good King Wenceslas,” “Deck the Halls,” “A Christmas Song,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Winter Wonderland.”
The Stage Band will perform a number of “Big Band” standards including pieces from Duke Ellington and classic crooner hits. The Jazz Ensemble will be revving things up with a number of blues and funk styles, along with traditional swing tunes. The performance will also feature senior music major, Emily Bzdafka of Avon Lake, Ohio, singing “Summertime” and “Every Day I Have the Blues.”
Both groups are under the direction of jazz trumpeter Dr. Joseph Pisano, Grove City College associate professor of music and associate chair of Department of Music and Fine Arts. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with the Grove City College Jazz Combo group playing a number of jazz standards prior to 8 p.m.
