GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Music Department will present the annual winter stage band and jazz ensemble concert, featuring Pittsburgh percussionist R.J. Heid, at 8 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center.
The concert will showcase both the Grove City College Stage Band, under the direction of Dr. Edwin P. Arnold, chairman of the department of music and fine arts, and the Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Joseph M. Pisano ’94, assistant professor of music and fine arts technology.
The bands will perform traditional Christmas tunes and classic jazz arrangements. Heid will perform with the jazz ensemble. The concert will also feature student soloists: senior Kayla Carpenter of Montoursville, Pa., and freshman Emily Bzdafka of Avon Lake, Ohio. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Also on Dec. 7, the 17th annual Grove City College Area Artists Exhibit will be open from 7-10 p.m. in the Pew Fine Arts Center Gallery. A variety of media is on display including painting, pottery, photography, sculpture and blown glass. Regular exhibit hours are weekdays from 1-4 p.m. through Dec. 11.
Both events are free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
