SPEAKER TACKLES PERILS OF PERFECTIONISM |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College will host Dr. Richard Winter, professor of practical theology and counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center. His presentation, “The Pursuit of Excellence and the Perils of Perfectionism,” is sponsored by the Center’s Ethics and Character Formation Working Group and is free and open to the public.
Winter is author of the book, “Perfecting Ourselves to Death.” He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of London, is a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeons since 1968 and is a member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Winter’s expertise ranges from the interface between psychology, theology and medicine to studies in medical ethics, perfectionism, depression, boredom and sexuality. Currently, his projects and research include books on depression and an introduction to counseling as well as continuing his research and teaching on perfectionism.
