GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College will host Steven Garber of The Washington Institute for a two lectures on Jan. 29. His first will be delivered at 9:30 a.m. in Harbison Chapel and is titled “What Do You Love? The Point of Learning and Life.” An evening talk is set for 7 p.m. in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center and will focus on “Only Connect: From Education to Vocation – The Telos of a Grove City College Degree.”
Garber is director of The Washington Institute and author of “The Fabric of Faithfulness: Weaving Together Belief and Behavior.” He writes frequently for various journals and was a contributor to the volumes “Faith Goes to Work: Reflections From the Marketplace” and “Get Up Off Your Knees: Preaching the U2 Catalogue.”
For many years he taught on Capitol Hill in the American Studies Program, later serving as the scholar-in-residence for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. He is particularly interested in the relationship of popular culture to political culture and serves as a board member for Ransom Fellowship and as a consultant for the Wedgwood Circle.
Garber is a native of Colorado and California and he and his wife, Meg, have five children.
