GROVE CITY, Pa. – The 2009 Grove City College Senior Man and Woman of the Year awards were presented to Andrew Snyder of Harmony, Pa., and Julie Miller of Elk Rapids, Mich., on May 2 during the Parents’ Weekend Recognition Convocation on campus.
The awards for Senior Man of the Year and the Senior Woman of the Year are presented jointly by the leadership honoraries Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa as a service to Grove City College. The selections are made on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service. The candidates were voted upon by the students and faculty. It is one of the highest honors that the College can bestow.
Snyder is a son of Steven and Ellyn Snyder. The electrical engineering major has participated in varsity swimming and diving as captain for two years, earned the All-American and Academic All-American awards and lettered for four years. Snyder also serves as a Sunday school teacher and large group instructor for New Community Church, manages the women’s water polo team and is active on the Academic Integrity Student Advisory Board and publicity committee for Orientation Board. He is the Theta Alpha Pi sorority sweetheart, plays club water polo and took an Inner City Outreach trip to the Dominican Republic. The 2008 Homecoming King is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa.
Miller is a daughter of Terry and Sarah Miller. The molecular biology/pre-med major has been actively involved in Orientation Board for the past three years, serving on the executive committee for two years. She is also active in other campus activities, such as women’s rugby, serving as the club’s match secretary and taking the field for several other intramural sports. Miller is also on the Parents’ Weekend Program Committee, Commencement Speaker Selection Committee and traveled to Malawi for an Inner City Outreach trip. She has worked as a student assistant in the chemistry department and has been named to the Crown and Sceptre and Omicron Delta Kappa honoraries.

Finalists for Woman of the Year were: Leslie Brettschneider of Fleetwood, N.C.; Phuong Bui of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; Emily Dalpiaz of Canton, Ohio; Katherine Kirk of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Stephanie Wild of Carmel, Ind.
