October 26, 2009
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College’s celebration of National French Week 2009 Nov. 3 through 9 kicks off with a concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 by Éric Vincent, a French singer and songwriter who has toured internationally. The concert and all other events are free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
Faculty members of the Department of Modern Languages, Drs. Catherine Trammell and Céline Léon, organized the weeklong events. The celebration is in response to the American Association of Teachers of French’s initiative to raise awareness about France’s presence worldwide. The College has celebrated National French Week for nearly a decade.
Éric Vincent, an internationally acclaimed musician, whose career spans decades, will perform in Crawford Hall Auditorium on Campus. Vincent’s name has appeared on marquees in more than 140 countries; he is considered one of the best contemporary singers in the tradition of the “chanson française.” He has toured the United States extensively and has performed at a number of prestigious venues, such as the Brooklyn Auditorium in New York City, the Opera of Hanoi in Vietnam, and the Opera of Manaus in Brazil. Vincent lives in a house boat on the Seine in Paris.
• Nov. 3: Concert by French singer Éric Vincent, 8 to 9:15 p.m. in Crawford Auditorium; a reception will follow in the Crawford Hall Rotunda. Organized by Professor Léon. • Nov. 4: French menu choices in the dining halls • Nov. 4: The French film, “The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob,” with English subtitles will show 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hall of Arts and Letters Room 210.
