GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Communication Studies Department will host a discussion with Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist for National Geographic Jay Dickman on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Dickman, a regular contributor to National Geographic magazine, has won several awards in the World Press International Competition, including the Golden Eye Award and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Distinguished Service in Journalism. His work also has appeared in 15 episodes of the high profile “A Day in the Life” series.
Featured in publications such as LIFE, Conde Nast Traveler, Time, Fortune, Forbes and Sports Illustrated, Dickman’s client list includes notable companies including Nike, Marlboro and the National Football League, among many others.
Dickman has worked in the photojournalism field for more than 30 years, covering events such as the war in El Salvador, the Olympics, national political conventions, the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and six Super Bowls. His assignments allowed him to spend three months living in a Stone-Age village in Papua New Guinea and a week under the Arctic ice in a nuclear attack sub, sail on a boat on the Amazon and fly around the world for corporate photo shoots.
Known among elite photographers as an “Olympus Visionary,” “Lexar Elite Photographer” and “HP Pro Photographer,” Dickman co-authored the text “Perfect Digital Photography,” published by McGraw Hill, with Jay Kinghorn. He was even featured on a national television ad campaign for American Express and owns digital workshops in various locations around the world, including France, Scotland, Spain and Chesapeake Bay, Md.
