Welcome to Harbison Chapel. The following guidelines have been established on the basis of past experience and are designed to help you plan for your special day.
One hour has been scheduled for rehearsal time the day prior to the wedding date. If the rehearsal begins late due to the late arrival of the wedding party, the time allotted will be reduced by that amount. The rehearsal must end and the Chapel vacated by the original scheduled time. The rehearsals are assigned at 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. during the school year and 5:00, 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. during the summer months. The wedding schedules available for your ceremony are as follows:
School calendar months: (September - May)
Two ceremonies per Saturday with a three hour allotted wedding schedule. First scheduled ceremony will determine the second three-hour allotted wedding schedule.
Summer months: (June - August)
10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
Wedding service at 11:00 or 11:30 a.m.
1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Wedding service at 2:30 or 3:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Wedding service at 6:00 or 6:30 p.m.
Charge for the use of Harbison Chapel: $400.00 if either one of the parties is a GCC student, graduate or former student $450.00 if neither party is a former student or graduate. ($50.00 nonrefundable fee due to cancellation: NO REFUND if cancellation is less than 3 months prior to wedding date)
A wedding hostess will be present to assist only as requested at the rehearsal and ceremony; therefore no external wedding director or consultant is necessary. By the time of the rehearsal the wedding couple should be prepared to delegate which usher is to seat whom, who will lay the crash (aisle runner), who is to remove clothing and personal possessions, the order in which the bridesmaids will process, and which groomsman will be paired with which bridesmaid. Selection of music must be made prior to the rehearsal.
The day of the ceremony, the wedding party may have use of the Chapel and the Bride's Room within the three-hour allotted wedding schedule. This would include the florist delivery and decorating. The ceremony begins with the procession.
The bride's room is in the Narthex of the Chapel. The bride and her attendants may dress there. Furniture and other fixtures in the Chapel may not be moved. The preferred area for the ushers to dress is in the choir robe room off the Chancel area. Clergy may robe there as well.
Rest rooms are located on the lower level of the Chapel and at each side of the Chancel area. Smoking, food and drink are prohibited in the Chapel at all times.
