GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Office of International Education recently announced that a record number of College students will study abroad this spring.
Thirty-two students will study abroad for the 2008 spring semester. The most common country for foreign study is Spain, with 10 students studying there. Other popular choices are Italy and England. One student will study in South Korea.
Office manager Lynn McQuiston has high hopes for the students. “I just read a bulletin board that asked, ‘how global are you?’ she said. “I think that’s important, and I think these students will be more marketable in the job search because of an international education.”
The previous record number of students to study abroad in a semester was 26, set last spring.
McQuiston added, “I’m hoping for an increase in not only individual programs but for faculty led trips and intersession trips.” The office is currently working with Dr. Mark Graham, associate professor of history, on a course focusing on archeology in Carthage, Tunisia, the first of its kind for the College.
The Office of International Education is led by Dr. Mark Reuber and Dr. Lois Johnson.
