GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dr. Joseph Pisano, associate chair of music and fine arts and director of fine arts technology, continues to be on the cutting edge of the music technology field. He has also been recognized for his accomplishments as an authority in jazz performance.
Pisano will serve on the academic panel at the TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Educators) National Conference to discuss music technology standards and music education curriculum. The TI:ME conference will be held in conjunction with the New Jersey Music Educators Association in late February in East Brunswick, N.J. In order to participate in the panel, Pisano will present clinics to music educators about creating, recording and editing digital audio.
Pisano continues his work as an advocate for the integration of music, education and technology through research and its practical applications to those fields. In the past six months, he has published an article reviewing the Zoom H4n in SoundTree’s “SoundWaves” national newsletter; been featured in “Teaching Music Magazine” and “In-Tune Monthly”; and at www.animusic.com/news, which profiles his work with computer animated music.
Additionally, Pisano was the guest conductor for the District II Jazz Band High School Festival in Western Pennsylvania, in early February. At the event, Pisano conducted many of the best jazz students from various western Pennsylvania counties. The festival was held at Bradford High School in Bradford, Pa. Pisano will also be the guest conductor for the Clarion all-county concert band festival to be held on Nov. 10, 2010.
