The mission of the physics department is to provide a high-quality, undergraduate physics education in a Christian environment, utilizing innovative, effective teaching techniques, and state-of-the-art facilities. Physicists seek to understand the intricate nature of our universe. Their search for truth and knowledge extends from the very large cosmos of stars and galaxies to the incredibly small world of atoms and sub-atomic particles. Some of the major fields of interest are atomic physics, biophysics, nuclear physics, optics, lasers, communications, cosmology, astronomy, electricity, magnetism, and solid-state physics. A physics major should be an inquisitive person who also has a strong aptitude for mathematics and enjoys solving complex problems.
