Welcome spring and welcome to our last edition of the Parents’ Newsletter!
After a very harsh winter, it was a wonderful Easter with flowers and sunshine –something the East hasn’t seen for many months. One way for you to enjoy this new season is to attend Parents’ Weekend (April 30 – May 2), which always is a very special time for parents and their students. In addition to the TAP one-act plays, student art exhibit, band concert and Spring Queen coronation, there is the Parents’ Weekend Dinner (reservation required), a Q&A session with Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. William Anderson and Vice President for Student Life and Learning Larry Hardesty. The ever popular All-College sing is held in the evening of May 1. To cap the weekend, a Sunday morning worship service will be held in Harbison Chapel. Please go to the Grove City College website for more information regarding the weekend and register to win prizes!
Spring is also the beginning of many new adventures for our graduating seniors and a time to reflect as they end their careers as Grove City College students. Next, they make the transition to alumni status and begin their new lives as graduates.
In reality, they are facing a much different world than it was four years ago when they started as freshmen. In these four years, our country has experienced many changes economically, politically and socially, but one thing that has remained constant is the commitment that Grove City College to our children, their students. That is one reassurance that hasn’t changed from when we attended the College to when our three children attended. We confidently know that this tradition will continue into the future. This is why we support Grove City College not only prayerfully but also financially (beyond tuition) in order for the College to provide for future generations of students. As parents, you can be involved in the Full Circle campaigns that help students and the College to continue to grow in academic excellence and to ensure an affordable Christian education for all who are eligible to attend.
We have seen our own children grow as students into compassionate, spiritual adults who continue, by word and example, the message of what a quality Christian education can do – personally and professionally. That is just one reason why we have served as co-presidents of the Parents’ Advancement Council these past three years. Now our tenure ends in May with the graduation of our youngest daughter and we thank everyone at Grove City College, especially Dr. and Mrs. Jewell, Larry Hardesty, Jeffrey Prokovich ’89, David Hollenbaugh ’92, Elicia Winner ’02, Melissa McLeod ’96, Dr. James Thrasher ’80 and many others who have made our journey so successful, strong, and a part of our family’s lives.
Grove City College is the thread of many families that keeps us close to God, to one another, and to the institution that has played a major part in our history now and in the future. Thank you and may God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Al and Pam (Hess) Klopsic '79
