ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM FIRST CONCERT OF ACADEMIC YEAR |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of the academic year Oct. 29 at 8 pm in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The performance is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
The orchestra, directed by Dr. Richard Konzen, professor of music and College organist, will be begin with the overture to “Der Freischütz” by Carl Maria von Weber. The orchestra also will present the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings, Op.48,” conceived as an imitation of Mozart’s style and in the form of a classic sonatina.
The orchestra will also perform excerpts from Prokofiev’s “Classical Symphony” and “The Pavane for a Dead Princess” by Maurice Ravel. The concert will close with the first l'Arlésienne suite by Georges Bizet.
