NEW DOWNTOWN GROVE CITY COLLEGE STORE TO OPEN |

 GROVE CITY, Pa. – The new Grove City College store in downtown Grove City will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. April 14 at the store’s location at 231 S. Broad St.
At its home in the former Natural Options storefront, the downtown site, named Crimson Connection, will offer apparel, gift items, faculty-authored books and other merchandise, most with a Grove City College theme. The store will open at 9 a.m. on the day of the ribbon cutting and close at 5 p.m. Regular store hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays. Crimson Connection will be closed on Sundays.
The location was one that was attractive to the College, being near to the College’s Colonial Hall Apartments and the Carnegie Alumni Center, currently under renovation. A rental agreement was set in place on Jan. 1, 2008, and work began on the interior and exterior of the store.
“We have been both a witness to and a major contributor to the many great things happening in downtown Grove City,” said College President Richard G. Jewell ’67, “and we wanted to continue to be a part of that momentum. We think having a presence in a revitalized downtown will be a wonderful shopping experience for our friends, fellow community members, prospective students and parents, and the thousands of alumni who visit the area each year.”
The existing store had been renovated in 2005, so only a few internal upgrade projects were necessary, mostly to make the downtown store match the on-campus store. Signage for Crimson Connection was erected last week.
The community is invited to attend the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Sales and specials will be part of the opening festivities. In addition, a grand opening drawing during opening week will give visitors a chance to win a Grove City College Champion sweatshirt. Customers may complete a registry card with their name, address, phone number and e-mail address by April 19 at Crimson Connection for a chance to win the drawing.
