GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College has begun a $4.5 million renovation of freshman women’s rooms in the Mary Anderson Pew North Hall as part of the College’s ongoing effort to update facilities. The project will be completed mid-August to welcome a new class of freshmen to campus.
When the work is complete, 118 rooms will have new windows, furniture, energy efficient lighting, flooring and fire protection sprinklers, as well as electrical and data wiring. The lay-in ceiling tile will be replaced with dry-wall ceilings, the hallways will be carpeted and the bathrooms featuring new fixtures, finishes and additional ventilation.
Crews began work following the conclusion of the 2009-2010 academic year. New features will include individual closets and movable furniture similar to other sections in Mary Anderson Pew Residence Hall. In addition, all floor tiles in the rooms will be replaced.
The general contractor for the North Hall renovations is Wallace Builders of Pulaski, Pa. They will be assisted by PIC Electric of Wheatland, Pa., Renick Brothers Mechanical Contractors of Slippery Rock, Pa and several other local subcontractors.
The College’s ongoing effort to keep the facilities updated will continue through each dormitory. After extensive work in Mary Anderson Pew hall, the focus will likely turn to another women’s residence hall, Mary Ethel Pew, according to Tom Gregg ’80, vice president for operations.
