GROVE CITY, Pa. – Are America’s Founders responsible for today’s “big government”? Featured speaker Dr. Joseph Postell of the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs will address this question and many more at the American Founders Luncheon on June 7 at noon, hosted by The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. The luncheon, “The Federalist Papers and the Foundation of American Conservatism,” is scheduled to take place at the Rivers Club in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Postell believes that although many Americans love the Founders, they often feel uneasy about elements of the nation’s founding. “Many conservatives argue that the Founders were too modern,” Postell said, “and that their emphasis on rights, freedom and equality has actually laid the groundwork for big government and its supporting ideology today.”
Postell, an assistant professor of political science, teaches courses on American political institutions, American political thought and administrative law. His research focuses primarily on administrative law, administrative state and on regulation.
The Founders Luncheon costs $17.76. To register, log onto http://grovecityconference.com or contact Brenda Vinton at (724) 450-1541 or blvinton@gcc.edu. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. The program runs from noon to 12:50 p.m. The Rivers Club is located at One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Pittsburgh, Pa.
