Fellow Adels,
It is with a great sense of both excitement and responsibility that I have accepted the position of Adel President for 2010. As a current junior who pledged in the spring of 2008 (my freshman year), I’ve really come to appreciate all that the fraternity has to offer. I’ve enjoyed living in community, participating in fraternity activities, getting to know rushes, actives and alumni and, most importantly, growing in the ties of Christian brotherhood. In this coming year, I hope that I can work to preserve and improve those things that have made being an Adel such an amazing experience.
That being said, I must recognize the challenge of building on a year as outstanding as 2009. Over the past 12 months, the Adels had the opportunity to welcome an awesome class of new actives to the fraternity, to enjoy an evening out at our yearly Spring Formal, to host a successful campus open house and to win the homecoming float competition for the fifth year running. In that time, we’ve grown in our relationships with each other and with many of our alumni, expanded our involvement on the Grove City Campus and worked to better carry out our mission as a fraternity. 2009 truly was a great year.
Moving forward, we’re seeking to preserve the fraternity while opening up new possibilities for alumni and actives to connect in meaningful ways. Our new website, www.adelphikos.org will serve as a repository of information about the fraternity and a way for alumni to check up on what’s going on on campus. Additionally, we will be establishing a concrete plan for building up a strong alumni network that will draw together all generations of Adels.
Especially with our 100th anniversary coming up in 2013, we would like to be as connected as possible to all our brothers so that we can have a celebration appropriate to the significance of 100 years of brotherhood. As always, we welcome alumni to visit us up on Lincoln 3rd Floor at any time, to come by during pledge week or to stop up at homecoming. And we certainly hope to see a lot of Adels for the centennial!
In the end, we’d like to thank our alumni for the rich traditions and years of history that they have handed down to us. The traditions of the Adelphikos are what draw us together from all corners of campus, and we thank God for all those who have gone before us and laid the foundations for our brotherhood.
