LAMBORN, ZANIAS CHOSEN AS MAN AND WOMAN OF THE YEAR |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The 2007 Grove City College Senior Man and Woman of the Year awards were presented to Ian Lamborn of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Alexis Zanias of Coplay, Pa., on May 5 during the Parents’ Weekend Recognition Convocation on campus.
The awards for Senior Man of the Year and the Senior Woman of the Year are presented jointly by the leadership honoraries Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa as a service to Grove City College. The selections are made on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service. The candidates were voted upon by the students and faculty. It is one of the highest honors that the College can bestow.
On and off the athletic field, Lamborn has made his mark on campus. A four-year member of the men’s varsity soccer team, Lamborn won the David Hensen Memorial Award and garnered other first-team accolades. He has presented molecular biology research at the Mayo Graduate School Immunological Research Conference, Tom Ridge Environment Center Research Symposium and for the PA Academy of the Science. Lamborn was also a Red Box Missionary to India and has participated in Inner City Outreach trips to Malawi, South Africa, and Kansas City, Kan. He has also involved in Orientation Board and the Alpha Omega housing group, and he has been honored with membership into Omicron Delta Kappa, Roundtable, Chi Alpha Sigma, Mortar Board and Kemikos. He is a son of Donald and Jennie Corl and his brother, Eli, is a Grove City College junior and also a varsity soccer player.
Zanias has made an indelible impact on campus during her four years at Grove City. She was a part of Warriors for Christ for four years and served as a worship leader for three and a half. She has served as the Orientation Board’s Carnival Committee Head, Sunrise Service Committee Head and a Mentor Group Leader. Also involved with Helping Hands, Adopt-A-Grandparent, the 30-Hour Famine and the Mini-Math Conference, Zanias has played various intramural sports and is on the College’s varsity diving team. A member of the Crown and Sceptre, Scroll and Key, Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa honoraries, she was also Homecoming Queen in the fall. She is a biology major and a daughter of Peter and Diane Zanias.
Finalists for Man of the Year were: Garret Choby of North Huntingdon, Pa.; Andrew Leuenberger of Mercer, Pa.; Matthew Mahan of Bradford, Pa.; Kevin Norman of Ellicott City, Md.; and Luke Rumbaugh of Greensburg, Pa. Finalists for Woman of the Year were: Leah Acker of Mercer, Pa.; Kelly Chappell of Coraopolis, Pa.; Emily Coury of Canton, Ohio; Amanda Muetzel of Venetia, Pa.; and Kate O’Brien of Seven Hills, Ohio.
