spacer KONZEN TO PRESENT ORGAN CONCERT FEB. 29
spacer
February 25, 2008

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dr. Richard Konzen, Grove City College professor of music and College organist, will present a recital at 7 p.m. Feb. 29 in the Parker Organ Studio of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

The performance will use music found on the Internet in “public domain,” or at no cost to the performer. The number of web sites offering these selections is constantly expanding, and the sources are as varied as the Library of Congress and individual musicians posting favorite pieces.

Selections include: “Ascendo ad Patrem” in ten parts by Arnold Schlick, a piece originally written for the coronation of Charles V as the Roman emperor in 1519; “Toccata in C” by Jan Pieterzoon Sweelinck; “Batalha de 6th Tom” by Pedro de Araujo; “Praeludium in Five Voices” by Matthias Weckmann; “Canon” by Samuel Brenton Whitney; “Two Tone Pieces” by Niels Gade; “Aria Sexta (Aria Sebaldina)” by Johann Pachelbel; and “Prelude and Fugue in E-Flat” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
