Admissions Requirements:

The Admissions Committee considers each applicant individually using the following criteria in making its selection:

  • Graduation from and recommendation by an approved secondary school. The academic or college preparatory course is strongly recommended, and should include English, history, mathematics, science, and foreign language. The study of mathematics through trigonometry or its equivalent is required for entrance to the programs in mathematics, chemistry, and engineering.
  • If available, test scores from either the College Entrance Examination Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), or the American College Testing Program (ACT).
  • References evidencing excellent character, wholesome social conduct, and spiritual interest.
  • Acceptable test scores on the TOEFL exam (minimum 550 paper/213 computer).

English Language Requirements:

Although several English and communications courses are available at Grove City, the College does not have a program in English as a Second Language (ESL). Therefore students applying to Grove City College should have a strong background in speaking and writing in English. The TOEFL or SAT is required for admission consideration.

Medical Insurance Requirements:

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs under the U.S. Department of State recommends that colleges make available insurance coverage to their international students with the following minimum benefits:

  • Medical benefits of at leat $50,000 per accident or illness
  • Repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500
  • Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the student to their home country in the amount of $10,000.
  • A deductible not exceeding $500 per accident or illness

If a student declines enrollment in the College's medical insurance plan, he or she must show the College proof of insurance up to or greater than the minimums listed above.

Financial Aid/Work Opportunities:

A low cost of education is the College's greatest financial aid to all it's students. There are limited partial scholarships available for students who are well qualified academically and who demonstrate financial need. Partial scholarships, which are applied directly to the College bill, and renewable all four years (based on submission of the International Student Financial Aid Application), provided the student maintains a 3.00 GPA and an upstanding social record as a full-time student and continues to show financial need. Under normal circumstances the yearly amount of the partial scholarship will remain constant for the duration of the student's attendance. It is assumed that, in accepting a partial scholarship from the College, the student is affirming his/her intention to complete an undergraduate degree at Grove City College.

In addition to partial scholarships, the College has work opportunities on campus. Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need. Students who excel in some fields are often given an opportunity to serve as departmental, laboratory, or library helpers. By working 5-6 hours weekly, a student can earn approximately $1,000.00 during the academic year. Students are paid monthly for the actual number of hours they work and may use the money as needed for college-related expenses. Freshmen are not allowed to work more than 10 hours a week, and 20 hours weekly is the maximum for upper class students.

The College often hires international students to work on campus during the breaks and summer vacation in maintenance positions. Students who work on campus over the summer vcation typically earn about $1500.00. Since there is no on-campus housing during the breaks and summer vacation, it is necessary for students to find off-campus accommodations. International students are invited to apply for campus work by making application with the Student Employment Office. For additional information of Financial Aid please contact:
