B.A. Political Science, B.A. in Economics

Can you tell us about how your academic work and relationships with faculty challenged you while you were at Grove City College?
The faculty challenged me to grow and mature in my academic endeavors. I never thought I would have the opportunity to formally present a paper at a political science conference as an undergraduate student. As a result of an African politics assignment, Dr. Samuel Stanton and I co-authored and presented a paper at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference in Chicago, Ill. I was also given multiple opportunities to serve as a research assistant for Dr. Paul Kengor and Dr. Michael Coulter, which improved my research and writing skills.

Can you tell us how your time at Grove City College prepared you for your vocation?
Analysis and communication are two main functions of my current occupation. At Grove City College, I learned the importance of critical thinking and analyzing the impacts of second and third order effects. Then, these findings must be effectively communicated to a wider audience, whether via public speaking, emails, or background papers. All of these skills were honed during my classes and activities at Grove City College.

Why did you study political science?
I was interested in the study of government institutions and the incentives they produce, both domestically and internationally.
