How big of a role did the affordability of Grove City College play in your college decision making process?
Affordability was a highly significant factor in my decision-making process. I was averse to the idea of taking on a bunch of student debt (thanks to wise parenting) and was sold on Grove City College’s reputation of being a wonderful school at a highly affordable cost.

How was your faith strengthened and perhaps even challenged during your time here?
The humanities core in the curriculum was vital in helping me connect faith with the rest of life. The extracurricular opportunities (Orientation Board, AEX housing group, and serving as a resident assistant for two years) were hugely impactful on my faith. It was a season in which I was challenged to live a life that was consistent with what I grew up believing.

How do the academics challenge students to think on a deeper level about the world and life in general?
I think the humanities core is the place where this happens most obviously as it forces us to engage in greater depth with history, literature, arts, etc. from a more robust perspective than we might have before.

What is the relationship like between the students and the professors?
I experienced my professors as approachable and willing to engage with students. I regret that I did not pursue these relationships more actively as my life was so filled with extracurricular activities!

How did you hear about Grove City College?
My pastor (Tim Kirk) went to Grove City College and told my parents about it. At that time, my dad had a rule that we had to attend a school within a five-hour radius of home. Grove City College was seven hours away. When he learned about the College, he changed the rule to say “you have to stay within five hours unless you go to Grove City College!” He got so excited about the College that he invited the director of admissions at the time to our home to host a gathering for prospective students.

Describe your experience with residence life at Grove City College, particularly freshman year.
Residence life was a hugely impactful part of my experience at Grove City College; so much so that I ended up serving as a Resident Assistant (RA) both junior and senior year. My freshman RAs did a great job at building community and bringing us together. We played intramural sports together, we studied the Bible together, we goofed off a lot, etc. I then joined a housing group (AEX) and had a very rich experience in community there as well.
