Marsch details science education from Christian perspective

Grove City College Professor of Physics Dr. Glenn A. Marsch contributed a chapter about teaching the natural sciences to a new book on Christian higher education.

“Teaching and Learning in the Sciences” is one chapter in “Christian Higher Education: Faith, Teaching, and Learning in the Evangelical Tradition,” edited by David S. Dockery and Christopher W. Morgan.

Marsch has thought about science and faith for many years. But teaching Grove City College’s Studies in Science, Faith and Technology course for twelve years has helped him more deeply develop his thoughts on the intersection of theology and faith, and on how to encourage students to think about origins science while remaining true to their consciences. These ideas inform his chapter in this volume, among almost 30 others’ contributions to a book that publisher Crossway says offers “a renewed vision for the distinctive work of Christian higher education.”

“Explaining the foundational beliefs about God, knowledge and humanity that underlie Christian higher education, this volume demonstrates how the Christian tradition shapes approaches to teaching, learning, scholarship and practice. A deeper understanding of this vision will equip Christian teachers and students to more effectively engage the broader culture and lead both church and society, for the good of the world and the glory of God,” according to Crossway.

Marsch says he was honored to be invited by Dockery, president of Trinity International University, to write the chapter. Marsch previously worked under Dockery during their tenure at Union University.

“Christian Higher Education: Faith, Teaching, and Learning in the Evangelical Tradition” is available at Crossway’s website and Amazon.
