College president participating at Praxis summit

Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty ’80 will be participating as a panelist at the Praxis Redemptive Imagination Summit this week in New York, offering his insights on social entrepreneurship and higher education at an event that organizers have described as an “ideas and action festival.”

At the invitation-only event, Praxis Fellows, alumni, mentors, philanthropists and investors will join together for conversations that intersect the areas of theology, culture and entrepreneurship.

Praxis is a venture group that is focused on redemptive entrepreneurship and connects entrepreneurs, students and innovators who are motivated by their faith to renew culture and love their neighbors. The organization has inspired a growing number of Christ-following entrepreneurs who have committed their lives to cultural and social impact, one organization at a time. Grove City College is a Praxis Partnership school.

“Our students have a unique opportunity to change the world in innumerable and surprising ways and the Praxis program provides a forum to create business models that push beyond traditional boundaries and incorporate the Gospel into entrepreneurial ventures,” McNulty said. “The partnership between Grove City College and Praxis offers exciting new possibilities for the fulfillment of the College’s mission to equip our students for their unique callings and in service of the common good.”

Each year Praxis hosts 12 businesses and 12 nonprofits into two accelerator programs on campus and around the country to spread the idea of socially responsible entrepreneurship. Grove City College students and alumni have participated in Praxis events in recent years. In 2014, the group launched Praxis Academy, a summer program focused on training Christian undergraduates in a new form of entrepreneurship. Graduates of the academy can apply to the Emerging Founders program, where they have the opportunity to participate in a summer apprenticeship with accelerator program alumni.
