Trustee named State Dep’t. Director of Policy Planning

Grove City College Chairman of the Board of Trustees David R. Rathburn ’79 and President Paul J. McNulty ’80 extend congratulations to Dr. Kiron Skinner, a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, on her appointment as Director of Policy Planning for the U.S. Department of State.

The Chairman and the President issued the following joint statement:

“On behalf of Grove City College, we offer Dr. Skinner sincere best wishes on her appointment to one of the most important offices in the U.S. Department of State. We share Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s confidence in her ability to serve U.S. interests around the globe, protect our citizens and promote American prosperity.” 

“As a trustee of the College, Dr. Skinner has contributed significantly to the advancement of the College at the national level in our efforts to develop leaders, like herself, of the highest proficiency, purpose and principles to advance the common good.”

Dr. Skinner, a nationally respected expert on foreign policy who serves as Director and Taube Professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Institute for Politics and Strategy, was sworn in to her new post on Tuesday by Secretary Pompeo who described Dr. Skinner as ‘a national security powerhouse’ and ‘a one-woman, strategic thinking tour de force.”

She joined the College’s Board of Trustees in 2014 and will take a leave of absence to focus on her responsibilities and duties at the U.S. State Department.
