College seeks nominations for MacKenzie Campus-Community Awards

Grove City College is seeking nominees for the 36th annual Florence E. MacKenzie Campus-Community Awards, which recognize those who strengthen the town-gown relationship between the College and the greater Grove City area.

The awards – one for each facet of that close connection to one another that we have enjoyed – will be presented Feb. 26, 2019 during a gala at Carnegie Alumni Center, an historic landmark that’s long stood at the intersection of campus and community. Individuals and groups – businesses, community, church or campus organizations – that work in meaningful and beneficial ways to bring the College and town together are eligible.

Nominees for both awards should meet the criteria through a commitment to volunteer efforts, not as a result of the requirements of employment. Nominations are requested in writing to include at least two paragraphs detailing the nominee’s outstanding contributions worthy of recognition of the MacKenzie Campus-Community Awards.

To learn more about nominating a group or individual, visit www.alumni.gcc.edu/ccnomination, or contact Charlene Shaw, director of Alumni Programs and Events, at cmshaw@gcc.edu. Nominations can also be mailed to: Charlene Shaw, Alumni Office, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City PA 16127.

The deadline for nominations is Dec. 15, 2018.

The award is named for Florence E. MacKenzie, wife of former Grove City College President Dr. Charles S. MacKenzie (1971 to 1991). Her community efforts and volunteer involvement included serving as president of Grove City Woman’s Club, the Women’s Bowling League, secretary of the local United Way and president of the Grove City Hospital Board of Trustees, today known as the Grove City Medical Center. The awards have been presented since 1983.
