Tedford to serve as string teachers association representative

​Grove City College Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Activities Dr. Jeffrey Tedford ’00 was recently appointed as the collegiate representative for Pennsylvania-Delaware String Teachers Association (PADESTA).

His work with PADESTA will focus on advising and coordinating the collegiate chapters throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, as well as coordinating various events throughout the year.

PADESTA is the Pennsylvania and Delaware chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), which is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players that helps them to develop and refine their careers. ASTA’s members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. The organization provides a vast array of services, including instrument insurance, an award-winning scholarly journal, annual professional development opportunities and access to collegial network of colleagues throughout the string profession.

Tedford is the director of the College and Chamber Orchestras. He teaches string methods and conducting classes. He also works with student music teachers and the College’s string quartet, gallery brass, cantita, trumpet choir and tuba choir ensembles. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from Grove City College, his masters in conducting from Carnegie Mellon University and his doctorate in music education from Shenandoah University.
