GROVE CITY, Pa. – National Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day will be the featured speaker at the Grove City College All-Campus Worship Service at 8 p.m. March 22 in WolvArena at the Physical Learning Center on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Day is the Racing Industry Representative for the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, a non-profit that oversees 58 chaplains who serve at over 100 tracks and training centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Day, whose career spanned more than three decades, retired in 2005 as one of the most accomplished jockeys in history with more than 40,000 rides, over 8,800 career victories and almost $298 million in earnings. He received the Eclipse Award for outstanding jockey four times and the George Woolf award, named after the jockey who rode Seabiscuit to victory in the 1938 match race against Triple Crown champion War Admiral. The winner of numerous Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup races, Day was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.
Through the RTCA, Day has traveled to racetracks worldwide to share his testimony and assist in planting outreach ministries. Day lives in Louisville, Ky., with his wife Sheila.
A student worship team will lead a time of singing during the service.
