GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College is hosting a gallery showing to celebrate the work of children’s book illustrator and author John Manders. The installation will run Feb. 5-21 in the Pew Fine Art Center Gallery on campus. At 1-4 p.m. on Feb. 4, Manders will open the showing by making a full-size drawing in front of an audience in the Pew Fine Arts Center Room 45. After the demonstration, Manders will hold a meet-and-greet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with refreshments provided.
Pittsburgh-based Manders has illustrated more than 40 books for children, including storybooks and textbooks. He was named Outstanding Illustrator/Author of 2006 by the Pennsylvania School Libraries Association. Manders is known for his whimsical style and often gives demonstrations to elementary school audiences. He has been featured by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and television station WTAE Channel 4 in Pittsburgh.
The gallery will be open Mondays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturdays 1-4 p.m.
