- Carnegie Hall commissioned by Andrew Carnegie in 1900 in response to the Board of Trustees request for a separate college library.
- Carnegie gifted $30,000 with stipulation that it be equally shared by the College and the Borough of Grove City to give the community free access and use.
- Land for Carnegie Hall was given by Grove City College, as were the free use of college books and supplies and half the annual support for maintenance.
- Carnegie Hall was completed with books and materials in place in 1902.
- When the Borough defaulted on maintenance responsibilities in 1906, Andrew Carnegie declared the library sole property of Grove City College.
- Carnegie Hall was free library and performance venue for the College and the community until the spring semester of 1954 when Buhl Library was dedicated on upper campus.
