GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College and the Pittsburgh Federalist Society will host Walter Stahr, an international finance attorney and author of “John Jay: Founding Father,” June 19 at the American Founders Luncheon Series at The Rivers Club in Pittsburgh.
Stahr will present “The Founders Abroad,” a look at the important and intriguing work men such as John Adam, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Jay conducted in Amsterdam, London, Madrid and Paris during the Revolutionary War.
The American Founders Luncheon Series brings to Pittsburgh respected scholars on America’s founding to present talks focused on the beliefs, actions and character of those leaders who pursued a “Great Experiment” in whether humans are capable of governing themselves.
Stahr is general counsel for EMP Global, based in Washington D.C., and is responsible for legal issues across the range of the firm’s funds and activities. He joined EMP in early 1999 and focused his attention initially on the firm’s Asian funds. He has previously worked as senior counsel for Fidelity Investments, based in Hong Kong, as special counsel to the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, based in Washington, and as an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, based in Washington and Hong Kong.
His acclaimed biography on John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States, was released in 2005. Stahr holds degrees from Stanford University, the Kennedy School of Public Policy and Harvard Law School.
