GROVE CITY, Pa. – Six student-developed business plans will compete for top cash prizes at the fifth annual Grove City College Business Plan Competition May 4. Finalists will present their plans starting at 1 p.m. in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters on campus. The public is invited to attend the competition. Winners will be announced at the Recognition Convocation at 10 a.m. May 5 in Harbison Chapel and at www.gcc.edu/businessplancompetition.
Non-profit finalists will begin the competition at 1 p.m. The first-place prize is $2,500 and second is $1,500. The two plans selected are:
1 p.m. Kingdom Enterprises, a business facilitating start-ups
and strengthening of Christian businesses, ministries
or initiatives domestically or internationally.
Junior Brian C. Campbell of Saxonburg, Pa., and seniors
Ruth J. Dykstra of Stratham, N.H., Timothy R. Entwistle
of Centerville, Pa., and Carolyn M. Shick of Midland, Mich.
1:50 p.m. Turkish Pottery Imports, an online store selling Turkish
pottery in the U.S. with proceeds reinvested into
Kapadokya, Turkey, the town where the pottery is
made.
Seniors Kathryn A. Morgan of Liberty Township, Ohio,
Emily J. Rossol of Waterville, Ohio, and Matthew P.
Swab of Bethel Park, Pa.
For-profit presentations begin at 4 p.m. The first-place prize is $4,500, second place is $3,000 and third is $2,000. The four finalists are:
4 p.m. Plain Games, Inc., family-values friendly company that
produces electronic game reviews.
Junior Stephan E. Mack of Eighty Four, Pa., and senior
James A. Tench of Natrona Heights, Pa.
4:45 p.m. New Lifestyles Health Club, a business focused on
spiritual and physical health, with emphasis on
long-term health and beauty.
Senior Lindsey A. DiGia of New Castle, Pa.
5:30 p.m. Peak Performance Physical Therapy, a premiere
pediatric sports therapy practice in Phoenixville, Pa.,
offering pediatric physical therapy, community-wide
education and personal training to student athletes.
Junior Ben H. Read of Hilton, N.Y.
6:15 p.m. Ever Arts Exhibitions, a visual arts brokerage firm
connecting artists and buyers by organizing auctions
of original artwork using community dining and lounge
venues.
Junior Nathaniel R. Day of Gilbertsville, Pa., freshman
Christopher Kellner of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.,
sophomore Nathanael E. Mucha of Parma, Ohio, and
junior Katya D. Popova of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The Entrepreneurship Program was established six years ago and now has over 70 students enrolled. Non-profit sponsors are Wesley Spectrum Services, a provider of support for children and families; the Grove City College Entrepreneurship Program; and Clyde and Rita Miller. Pine Instrument Company has sponsored the for-profit category for five years.
