FALL ORCHESTRA CONCERT OFFERS MUSICAL VARIETY |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Orchestra will present its fall concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on the Grove City College campus. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Konzen, professor of music and college organist, the orchestra will perform selections from a range of composers, including Antonin Dvorak, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Peter Tchaikovsky. The Grove City College String Chamber Orchestra will also perform.
Concert selections include: “Carnival Overture” by Dvorak, “The Moldau” by Bedrich Smetana, “Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis” by Ralph Vaughn Williams, the first movement of the “Symphony No. 40 in G minor” by Mozart and “March Slave” by Tchaikovsky.
Grove City College senior Matthew Haas of Palmyra, Pa., is the conductor of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 piece, in honor of the composer’s 250th birthday. Senior David Tedford, also of Palmyra, will conduct the Tchaikovsky selection. The String Chamber Orchestra will perform the first movement of the “String Serenade” by Dvorak.
The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
