GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College will host the film premiere of “The Perfect Game” on April 17 at 4 p.m. in Crawford Hall Auditorium on campus. The film’s executive producer Jim Van Eerden ’85, will be in attendance for a question-and-answer session following the screening. The film premieres nationwide the same day.
The event is free and open to the public. Free popcorn and soda will be distributed to all attendees upon arrival. Kids are encouraged to wear their favorite ball cap or jersey.
The event, sponsored by the Department of Communication Studies, is the first of an ongoing film series to promote service and philanthropy through the art of film. The series will feature film executive producer Van Eerden.
“The Perfect Game,” rated PG, is based on a true story of impoverished children from Monterrey, Mexico, who shocked the sports world by winning 13 games in a row before pitching the only perfect game ever in a Little League World Series Championship. Through the children’s faith and perseverance, the Little League team eventually captured the hearts of all competing nations.
“It has the same irresistible appeal that made ‘The Blind Side’ such a heart-stirring crowd pleaser,” said Patrick Goldstein of the Los Angeles Times.
