GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dr. Guido Hülsmann, chairman of the University of Angers economics department and senior fellow with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, will provide an expert’s perspective on the current economic climate in a visit to Grove City College March 5. His presentation, “How to Get Out of the Economic Crisis,” begins at 7 p.m. in the Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters and is free and open to the public.
Hülsmann, a native of Germany, has taught at the University of Angers in France since 2004. An Austrian school economist, he has lectured throughout the U.S., France and Spain. His work has earned international awards and grants, including the 2005 Franz Cuhel Memorial Prize for Excellence in Economic Education from the Prague Conference on Political Economy. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the Technical University in Berlin, Germany, and the equivalent of a post-doctoral accreditation from the University of Paris-Dauphine.
Hülsmann has published articles in English, French and German and has contributed path breaking work to “The Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics” and “The Journal of Libertarian Studies.” He is the author of five books including a full-length biography of the 20th century economist, Ludwig von Mises. His latest book is “The Ethics of Money Production.” His current research areas are international monetary economics, theory of money and banking and basic conceptual and philosophical problems of economic analysis.
