CONCERT BAND, WIND ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM MARCH 23 |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Symphonic Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. March 23 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
Under the direction of Dr. Edwin Arnold, chairman of the Department of Music and director of bands, the Concert Band will perform a variety of musical selections including “His Honor March” by Henry Fillmore, “Purple Carnival March” by Harry Alford, Morton Gould’s “American Salute,” excerpts from Gustav Mahler’s “Symphony No. 3” and a special arrangement of “Africa: Ceremony Song and Ritual,” composed by Robert W. Smith. Joseph Pisano ’94, associate director and assistant professor of music, will conduct “Appalachian Legacy,” written by Robert Sheldon.
The Wind Ensemble will present three selections that it will perform at the 2007 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association State In-Service Conference at 2:30 p.m. April 20 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pa. The Ensemble was selected from nearly 200 submissions to perform at the conference. It is a select group of musicians within the band program, which attracts students from a broad spectrum of majors to fill its 170 positions.
PMEA is a service organization comprised of band, orchestra and choral directors, as well as elementary school music teachers from colleges, universities and school systems in Pennsylvania. Arnold has been a member of PMEA since 1967.
